Before the first book contract, before Cooper Union or even first grade, a scribble was made. It wasn’t remarkable but it was the future. Architectural renderings and toy-making were stops along the way to writing and illustrating. My stories are populated by lots of critters like pigs, polar bears and occasionally people. Research for my books includes visiting libraries, zoos, and classrooms. That’s where ideas lurk; there and the produce aisle at the grocery store.
