The Talbot County Free Library kicks off their annual Summer Reading Program during the Chesapeake Children's Festival on Saturday, June 17. The program is free and open to the public. Students may choose their own reading material, such as books or magazines, and track their profiles using reading logs provided free of charge by the Library.

The program prevents "summer slide" (in which children tend to lose many of the reading skills they acquired during the school year) by keeping students motivated and developing a positive attitude toward learning, reading, books, and all the wonderful words to be found in a library. The Library experience accelerates a sense of discovery. Free access to educational tools prepares students for future learning opportunities as they continue their education.

For more information, visit the Library's website www.tcfl.org or call 410-822-1626.
